FYI is a pocket sized independent guide showcasing the independent places to eat, drink, shop and do stuff that make our town a great place to live, visit and explore.

It’s content is also available on a mobile optimised website for people to access when out and about which will allow them to find these places on smart maps.

FYI is a personal project created by Huddersfield designers Aidan Nolan and Warren Slingsby.

Aidan runs A.N.D Studio who specialise in brand identity, graphic design, print communication and packaging and Warren set up MAKE, a digital communications agency, in 2008.

FYI is trusted, unbiased guide to the independent places to eat, drink, shop and do stuff, so you can't pay to be in it. We're launching FYI in Huddersfield.

Instead we're asking the places who we wish to feature to sell 20 guides in their shop, restaurant, bar etc over the course of 2012.

Can we have an offer in the booklet?
Yes, we encourage you to have some type of offer or incentive such as a discount on certain days or on certain products.

Can we updated our offers on the mobile site?
It's part of our development roadmap and we'd like to introduce it as soon as we can, but this will probably be in year 2. Eventually, you'll have a login and you'll be able to update your offers and contact information whenever it suits you.

Will there be a launch event for FYI?
Yes, we're currently working on our launch event plans and if you're on the shortlist, you'll be invited! We've currently got the 1st of March 2012 pencilled in, so stick it in your diary.

What if I sell all my books and need more?
We'll have a stock of books and if we have some left, we can let you have more. If there is demand for a 2nd print run, we'll print more.

Will we get some point of sale help?
We'll be providing FYI establishments with a perspex point of sale book holder. It's small as the book is pocket sized, so it won't take up much space.

How will peole know we're in FYI?
We'll be giving you clear window stickers so you can stick a 'We're featured in FYI' in your window should you wish.

Can I have an offer?
We'll be giving you the ability to upload an offer to your listing on the website soon after the site goes live. You'll be able to change this daily, weekly or monthly. It wil help drive footfall, so we strongly recommend you use it. It will be free initially but eventually, there will be a nominal fee.

How will I know what's going on with FYI?
